How to download videos from X (Twitter)
Open the post on x.com, open FileSnatch, and click Download. FileSnatch reads the post's own video files, so you choose 1080p, 720p or smaller, and GIFs come out as videos you can play.
The problem
X has no download button. Right-click gives you nothing useful, the video is streamed in small pieces, and "Twitter downloader" websites want you to paste links, show ads, and pass your video through their servers.
How FileSnatch helps
- FileSnatch reads the post itself and lists every quality X has for that video.
- The file is named after the post, not a string of random letters.
- Posts with several videos show each one; Download all takes them together.
- Scrolling a timeline? Each video you play is added to the panel as you go.
Step by step
- Open the post
Open the post with the video on x.com. Clicking it so it opens on its own page works best.
- Open FileSnatch
Click the FileSnatch icon in the toolbar, or press Alt+Shift+M.
- Pick a quality
Use the arrow next to Download to choose a size.
- Download
It saves to your Downloads folder.
Good to know
- Right-click a post's link and choose Download with FileSnatch to save it without opening it.
- GIFs on X are really short videos; FileSnatch saves them as MP4, or as a real GIF with Trim.
Free saves up to 720p, 20 a day. Pro adds 1080p and 4K, unlimited and all at once.
