How to download a video from any website (even without a download button)
Install FileSnatch, open the page with the video and open the FileSnatch panel. It has already found the page's videos, even hidden and streamed ones, so you pick one, choose a quality and click Download.
The problem
Most sites don't offer a download button. Right-click "Save video as" is often missing, the video is split into hundreds of small streamed pieces, or it's tucked inside an embedded player. Online downloader websites ask you to copy links around, are full of ads, and send your video through their servers.
How FileSnatch helps
- FileSnatch watches the page as you use it and catches every video it plays or loads, including streamed (HLS and DASH) and embedded ones.
- Streamed videos are joined into one normal MP4 that plays everywhere.
- It shows each video as a thumbnail with its length and quality, so you know what you're saving.
- On X, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, Vimeo, Twitch and 8 more sites it gets the original file in every quality.
Step by step
- Open the page
Go to the page with the video in Chrome. Play it once if it only loads when played.
- Open FileSnatch
Click the FileSnatch icon in the toolbar, or press Alt+Shift+M. The Videos tab lists what the page has.
- Check it
Click a video to watch it right in the panel, so you're sure it's the right one.
- Pick a quality
Use the arrow next to Download to choose 1080p, 720p, or just the sound.
- Download
Click Download. It saves to your Downloads folder, in a folder named after the site.
Good to know
- No need to open the post: right-click a link and choose Download with FileSnatch, or paste the link into the panel.
- Saving many videos from one page? Download all saves them at once.
- Videos protected by DRM (Netflix, Disney+, Spotify) can't be saved, and FileSnatch labels them so.
Free saves up to 720p, one video at a time, 20 a day. Pro adds 1080p and 4K, unlimited and all at once.

Does it work on every website?
On most sites. It doesn't work with YouTube (Chrome Web Store rules) or DRM-protected services.
Is the video sent through a server?
No. It downloads straight from the site to your computer.
