How to download a Vimeo video (including embedded ones)

2 min read · Works in Chrome

Quick answer

Open the Vimeo video, or the page that has it embedded, open FileSnatch, pick a quality and click Download. The stream is joined into one MP4.

The problem

Many Vimeo videos have the download button turned off, and embedded Vimeo players on course and company sites hide the video address entirely. Vimeo streams video in pieces, so there's no single file to right-click.

How FileSnatch helps

Step by step

  1. Open the page

Go to the Vimeo video, or the page where it's embedded. Play it for a second.

  2. Open FileSnatch

Click the FileSnatch icon in the toolbar, or press Alt+Shift+M.

  3. Pick a quality

Choose a size from the arrow next to Download.

  4. Download

    It's saved as one MP4.
